The term "hack" has a negative connotation that some define as breaking into a system or program with mischievous intent. This is not how the members of HackOttawa view this term. Instead we define the verb, to hack, as the exploration of a system or program in order to better understand it.
So, despite what our name suggests, HackOttawa is an ethical group whose members are dedicated to the research and discussion of information security trends and the exploration of the hacker culture. We pride ourselves in being ethical and do not take part in any malicious activities.
